San Pedro Sula (Spanish pronunciation: [san ˈpedɾo ˈsula]) is the capital of Cortés Department, Honduras. It is located in the northwest corner of the country in the Sula Valley, about 50 kilometers (31 miles) south of Puerto Cortés on the Caribbean Sea.

With a population of 661,190 in the central urban area (2019 calculation) and a population of 1,445,598 in its metropolitan area in 2019, it is the nation's primary industrial center and second largest city after the capital Tegucigalpa.

After the partition of Ireland in 1922, Dublin became the capital of the Irish Free State, later renamed Ireland. Dublin is a historic and modern centre for education, the arts, management and business. As of 2018 the city was listed by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network (GaWC) as a global city, with a ranking of"Alpha −", which places it among the top thirty cities in the world.
