Rybnik [ˈrɨbɲik] (listen) (Silesian: Rybnik, German: Rybnick) is a city in southern Poland, in the Silesian Voivodeship. The city first developed as a fishing centre in the Middle Ages, hence the name of the city alludes to the trade.
