Algiers ( al-JEERZ; Arabic: الجزائر‎; Berber: Dzayer; French: Alger) is the capital and largest city of Algeria. The city's population at the 2008 Census was 2,988,145 and in 2011 was estimated to be around 3,500,000. An estimate puts the population of the larger metropolitan city to be around 5,000,000. Algiers is located on the Mediterranean Sea and at the north-central portion of Algeria.

Algiers is located on the west side of a bay of the Mediterranean Sea. The modern area of the town is built on the level ground by the seashore; the older part, the ancient city of the deys, climbs the steep hill behind the modern city and is crowned by the casbah or citadel, 122 metres (400 ft) above the sea. The casbah and the two quays form a triangle.

Hachinohe (八戸市, Hachinohe-shi) is a city located in Aomori Prefecture, Japan. As of 1 July 2020, the city had an estimated population of 221,459, and a population density of 725 persons per km² in 96,092 households, making it Aomori Prefecture's second largest city by population.

The city has a total area of 305.56 square kilometres (117.98 sq mi).
