Hagenau (französisch: Haguenau [agˈno], elsässisch: Hàwenàu) ist eine französische Gemeinde im Nordosten der Region Grand Est (bis 2015 Elsass). Mit 34.504 Einwohnern (Stand 1. Januar 2017) ist Hagenau nach Straßburg die zweitgrößte Gemeinde im Département Bas-Rhin, dem historischen Unterelsass. Die Hagenauer Bevölkerung wuchs zwischen 1968 und 2006 von 22.

644 auf 34.891 Einwohner an; seit 2006 geht die Bevölkerungszahl jedoch wieder langsam zurück (2009: 34.648). Der Großraum Hagenau (aire urbaine) wuchs im gleichen Zeitraum von 43.904 Einwohnern (1968) auf 64.562 Einwohner (2006).Das von Kaiser Friedrich Barbarossa zur Reichsstadt erhobene Hagenau fiel durch den Westfälischen Frieden 1648 an Frankreich.
