Bethlehem (auch Betlehem, Efrata; hebräisch בית לחם, Bet Leḥem, arabisch بيت لحم Bait Lahm, DMG Bayt Laḥm) ist eine Stadt im Westjordanland mit 29.930 Einwohnern. Die Stadt gehört zu den Palästinensischen Autonomiegebieten und grenzt im Norden an Jerusalem. Sie beheimatet zwei Universitäten. Zur Agglomeration Bethlehem gehören auch Beit Dschala und Beit Sahur; letzterer Ort hat wie Bethlehem biblische Bedeutung für die Israeliten, weil sie der Überlieferung nach der Geburtsort König Davids sein soll.
