Porto Velho, amtlich portugiesisch Município de Porto Velho, ist die Hauptstadt des brasilianischen Bundesstaates Rondônia. Die Stadt hatte laut Schätzung zum 1. Juli 2020 539.354 Einwohner. Die Fläche des gesamten Gemeindegebietes mit rund 34.091 km² entspricht in etwa der Größe Baden-Württembergs, jedoch mit einer Bevölkerungsdichte von 15,24 Einwohner pro km².

Rund 91 % der Bevölkerung konzentrierten sich 2010 auf das eigentliche urbane Gebiet, rund 9 % auf das noch weitgehend unberührte Umland. Auf dem Gemeindegebiet befinden sich Schutzgebiete und drei Stammesreservate der Karitiana, Kaxaraxi und Karipuna.
